OCCUPY SUPERHEROES BLOG
It's been two weeks since I received a letter from Kinley &Kinley, the lawyers representing both Marvel and DC comics on their joint trademark for the word, "Super Hero". I feel kinda numb now about the whole matter, but its at the wait and see stage. They want me to give up my trademark for "A World Without Superheroes", or else. I'm not one to buckle under the thumb of anyone who threatens to extinguish my existence or claim to have absolute power over me. Fact is, I own copyrights to my story and the trademark is new, but I've been using the title " A World Without Superheroes" since I was in college, and the characters go all the way back to my junior high school and high school days. I'm not going down without a fight or at least without some kind of compensation. I've talked to a lot of people and to the CBLDF, and everyone keeps telling me, don't step into the ring, you'll lose the fight, the title and lots of money. My father was a boxer, a soldier in the Air Force, and a great father who raised me with a lot of tough love. He didn't raise any pussies in the family. Despite my mothers attempted influences of religion and the whole "turn the other cheek" business, I've never backed down from a fight, especially with lawyers. I don't like them, I think they are savvy little shits who think they're untouchable. I don't write anti-hero comics for nothing, I live and breathe it, and I like to fight dirty, so Marvel/ DC can bring it on.
